Sun Hui erhu artist
Winner of Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award 2018

Sun Hui  [AKA Tsun-Hui Hung 洪充惠], born in Taiwan, studied erhu from the age of seven. She has won numerous major awards, including the prestigious Outstanding Artist Award at the Taiwan National Erhu Competition. After earning a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from The Ohio State University, she continues to collaborate with a variety contemporary composers & musicians from World, Western-classical, Chinese and other musical backgrounds. She had been invited to perform at various esteemed venues around the world, leaving only Austria and Antarctica on her bucket list. Since becoming a resident of Hawaii in 2016, she has developed an interest in combining erhu with music of Aloha. Don't be fooled by her charming picture, she is also a champion of Taiwan National Taichi competition.
